The Gaza Envelope features a myriad of small towns and villages caught up in the center of the Israeli and Palestinian conflict
For decades now, the area, despite its rich tapestry, has been a victim of violent attacks and ongoing tragedy. The deep-seated history of the area, coupled with the plight of those who reside in it, continues to make this area the highlight of global headlines today.
Throughout the years, many events have unfolded…
Despite new rulings being passed, conflict has been an unwavering theme, with multiple shifts in control over the years. From Egyptian rule in 1948 to Israel coming into power after the 1967 war, the region is a testament to the desire for power in the face of resilience. Years down the line, regions within the Gaza Envelope were acknowledged to be under the control of Palestinians, with an agreement with the Israeli government seemingly pulling out. The withdrawal came with its own set of conditions, introducing blockades of goods in and out of the region, determined by Israeli and Egyptian authorities. This, alongside various other factors, has gravely impacted the lives of those in the Gaza Envelope. These communities face significant challenges in the form of violence, economic upheaval, security issues, and daily stress. The region today remains tainted by violence, whereby civilians pay the price of a war they never started.
On our visit to the Gaza Envelope, we will explore the places steeped in history, recognizing those who were there and worked the land. We will also visit memorial sites from the Oct. 7th Massacre, where we will focus on the lives, hopes and dreams of those who can no longer speak for themselves.
