Options for Exploration (This is just a sample of the available options—additional possibilities can be explored when planning your personalized tour.)

Mt. Sodom

See a pillar of salt called Lot’s wife near this majestic mountain of Salt! Enjoy a walk down from the top, tasting and testing the stones you pass as you meander down some of the marked trails. This mountain contains the longest (10km) salt cave, which is only one of the 270 there. You may consider a separate day tour of these caves (with a licensed cave guide)

Masada

Immerse yourself in the glorious history of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Masada is an architectural wonder, a fortress with intricacies that go beyond the surface. The day begins with a journey to the top. If you’re up for the hike, the Snake Path offers an energizing challenge. This fortress tells unfiltered tales of history etched into its architecture. As documented by historian, Josephus Flavious, Masada’s rich history is colored by a Jewish uprising in the Late Roman Era. To this day, their encampments at the mountain base are visible. King Herod’s palaces forever remain standing majestically above the desert and sea. Here, the Romans laid siege and infiltrated the mountain, prompting the Jewish rebels to bid their lives goodbye, rather than surrender at the enemy’s behest.

Dead Sea

The Dead Sea complements Masada as a glorious natural site that never fails to impress onlookers. Situated a whopping 1300 feet below sea level, it’s not only the lowest point on the planet, but also boasts an extremely high salt concentration that lets humans float on the surface, no gear needed! Nestled in the heart of the Judean Desert in the Great African Syrian Rift Valley, the Dead Sea also offers exceptional healing benefits to people eager to nourish their skin with mineral rich mud. It’s known for the panoramic views, and exceptional sights that remain encapsulating despite how many times you see it. If you’re looking to unwind and relax, choose one of the various luxury spas in the vicinity. The sea water itself stays warm and soothing, no matter the season.

David Springs

Nestled in the heart of the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, this beautiful oasis is an enchanting ode to the wonders of nature. In the background, the serene desert creates a picturesque landscape. You’ll follow a route alongside gushing sweet water waterfalls and take a soak in the cool spring. You can also hike to the top of the mountain to see a prehistoric cultic temple or follow along the stream to an ancient synagogue.

Qumran

Take a deep dive into the richness of a site revered for its sacred origins. Home to the ancient texts, exploring Qumran offers a history lesson coupled with historic views. Some locals here fervently believe that the village homed John the Baptist, and even welcomed Jesus. Geographically, the archaeological site is near the Dead Sea and the Jordan River. Here, you’ll also find ancient scrolls documenting life in the day of the average Qumran villager 2000 years ago.
